« The landscape is the link between our outside self and our inner self » Bill Viola
Pieles (skins, in spanish) was born from a long trip to Latin America. It invites us to approach and experience the landscape through the body to give life to living sculptures that integrate into and interact with it. They unify and converge in a single vibration, in a panorama where sculpture and landscape become one skin.
Pieles thus suggests precious moments when the body expands and spreads in the universe, like a return to the womb of the Earth. It is a sensitive and intuitive experience that reveals a kind of ritual celebrating our connection and our belonging to Nature and the cosmos.
Photographic captures become the trace of this intimate exchange giving birth to ephemeral monuments. The survival blanket reminds us once again of the obvious fragility and vulnerability of our Mother Earth, but also of the precariousness of our relationship with the world.
Pieles continues to dialogue around the world in order to create a poetic memory of the Earth.
Pieles was exhibited at A Seis Manos Cultural Center in Bogota, Colombia in 2016. In 2017, at La Maison de Amérique Latine in Strasbourg, at Pol'n space in Nantes and at La Maison de Amérique Latine in Marseille . PIELES recently won 3rd prize of AMMA PRIZE 2019, jury chaired by Philippe Dagen at the Bastile Design Center in Paris.
